Having been led by the Spirit of God to repent from our sin, to receive Jesus Christ as savior and lord and having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we do now most solemnly and joyfully express our covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We as a community of Christ-followers dependent on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit commit to walk in faith and love; to mature in knowledge, holiness, and unity; to promote the church’s effectiveness and fruitfulness in advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ; to sustain its worship ordinances and discipline; and to welcome and test instruction from the scriptures.
As a body, we commit:
- To GIVE cheerfully and regularly of my financial resources to support this church’s vision of bringing relief to the poor and making disciples of all nations.
- To SERVE the church, in accordance to God’s will, in an area of ministry or service being faithful to fulfill the duties of that role.
- To GROW in my relationship with Jesus Christ by studying the scriptures and praying, both privately and with others in the church.
- To STAND against sin and the appearance of evil in my personal character, conduct, and speech, and against injustice, in particular, for those who lack the resources to stand for themselves.
- To LOVE others in this church body through continual encouragement, accountability, submission, and service, being slow to take offense, but quick to reconcile, understanding that the quality of my relationships with others affects the quality of my relationship to God.
Furthermore, in the event any of us separate from this church body, we commit, if possible, to unite with a like-minded church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant.
